Congrats to the New Mrs. International, Janet Risner Bolin!
Does that name ring a bell? Janet represented North Carolina to win the national title, but she is from Heath Ohio and a former Miss Ohio contestant who stayed involved in the program! I believe she competed a few times, but her only title I recall is Miss Maple City.
The Mrs. International pageant took place last night in Chicago.
Miss International - North Carolina
1st RU - California
2nd RU - Southern States
3rd RU - Tennessee
4th RU - Appalachians
Top 12: Arkansas, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio (Jenny Lewis), Oklahoma, Pennsylvania & Texas
The Miss and Teen International pageants will take place this coming weekend, July 28th to the 30th, also in Chicago.
Miss Ohio Teen International is Brianna Bailey of Lebanon.
And of course, most of you know Miss Ohio International, Jillian Dansko! Like Janet, Jillian is a former Miss Ohio contestant; she held the titles Miss Buckeye State, Miss North Coast, Miss Greater Dayton and Miss Central Ohio in the mid-2000s. At Miss Ohio she won at least one Preliminary Swimsuit Award and placed in the Top 10. Since "aging out" of the Miss America program, she has also held the title Beauties of Americas 20s and I have a feeling another national title could be just around the corner for her! Good luck Jillian!

The Miss Ohio 2011 Bike Tour!
Tonight Miss Ohio 2011 Ellen Bryan is having an official homecoming celebration in Celina Ohio! If you're not there right now, fear not, she has plenty of upcoming appearances (click to enlarge):
Also, Ellen has an aggressive Miss Ohio bike tour planned! Between August 29th to September 24th she will peddle to all six of Ohio's Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals! According to the Bike Tour website, she'll average 40 miles a day and nearly 900 miles total! To learn everything about the tour and donate to the cause, visit the website.
I have to say, this is a ridiculously impressive undertaking that seems to have had more than just a month of planning! I am willing to bet that it was part of Ellen's Miss Ohio paperwork (perhaps her answer to the legacy question?); if it was, it certainly shows how she set herself apart and won an Interview Award! This event is SO SMART! She's raising money and awareness for CMNH, as well as getting those legs in shape for Miss America and hopefully garnering some major media exposure! Seriously, has anyone called Good Morning America yet?!
Ellen's newsletter says "The road will get lonely without some company - so hop on your bike and ride with me for a day or two." I think every local contestant and titleholder, I repeat, EVERY LOCAL TITLEHOLDER should join her, and yes, add it to your pageant resume! I'm not a fan of the CMNH donations required to compete, but biking with Miss Ohio will make it easier and even fun. Ask people to donate per mile. Also, be sure to call your local newspaper, radio stations and TV channels; get some coverage for yourself, for Miss Ohio and of course, for CMNH!
Great job Ellen! I wish my aqua beach cruiser and I were in Ohio to join you!

Best of Luck to the Miss Lake Festival Program!
Tomorrow night the Celina Field House will be packed, as twelve thousand dollars in scholarships and one glittering crowned are given out! Miss Lake Festival is a preliminary pageant closed to women of Mercer County; it is held on a Monday so the winner and her court can prepare to reign over this weekends festival. Both Miss Ohio, Ellen Bryan (a former Miss Lake Festival) and nearby resident Miss Ohio's Outstanding Teen, Kelsey Barrett will be on hand!
The outgoing Miss Lake Festival is the sensational Devon Stansbury! She first competed at Miss Ohio in 2010 with a Sweeps title, Miss Mohican Valley, before earning her home county crown. Devon has danced all her life and studies at the University of Cincinnati; learn more at her new BLOG!
Ellen Bryan will host, with Devon Stansbury and Grace Stammen. Seven women will compete for Devon's title. For what it's worth, my money is on Jena Sweigart or former teen contestant Emily Werling!

Best of Luck to Miss Greater Cleveland / Cuyahoga County & Teen Pageant!
It seems like Miss Ohio was just yesterday, but it's already time to start crowning the class of 2011 - 2012! The first local preliminary is tonight; Sylvia's Show, otherwise known as Miss Greater Cleveland & Miss Cuyahoga County, will be held at Al Koran Shriners Conference Center in Broadview Heights.
The talented Marisa Buchheit, Miss Greater Cleveland (left) and stunning Jessica Nelson, Miss Cuyahoga County (right) will be giving up their titles! Marisa was a Top 10 semifinalist during her second attempt at Miss Ohio. Jessica, on the other hand, has had a whirl wind pageant experience, assuming her title only four short months ago. Hopefully both of them return to the Miss Ohio stage next summer!
Fourteen women are competing in the first local of the year.
I will hopefully add photos and more information later, for now an asterisk denotes the contestants who have previously competed at Miss Ohio. This is the contestant order:
