Updated: Best of Luck to the Miss Greater Butler County & Teen Program!

Saturday in Oxford two new titleholders will be crowned, Miss Greater Bulter County and Greater Butler County's Outstanding Teen! The pageant will take place at 7 p.m. in Bogan Elementary School. Details are on the Miss GBC website. Nicole Masters, Miss Hamilton 2006, will emcee and both outgoing titleholders will be on hand to crown their successors!

The outgoing Teen is Taylor Crowe. She was one of the youngest contestants at the Miss Ohio's Outstanding Teen pageant, having not yet started high school! On the other hand, Miss Greater Butler County Nanciann Strosnider was a Miss Ohio veteran who has sadly "aged out."

Nanciann, or "Fancypants" as she was nicknamed during my generation of contestants was a FANTASTIC competitor; she was the class clown backstage, but onstage she had a stellar record. She was the stand-out newbie at Miss Ohio her first year, placing 4th Runner-up as Miss South Central Ohio 2005. The next year she made the Top 10 as Miss Portsmouth 2006, then returned to 4th runner-up as Miss Lake Erie 2007. The pattern continued when she was again in the Top 10 as Miss Northern Ohio 2008. As the hometown favorite, Miss Mansfield 2009 Nanciann won a Preliminary Talent award and was named 2nd Runner-up. After rumors of pageant retirement, she competed in one local last year, this, the last regular season pageant and headed to Miss Ohio for a sixth and final time. She won both the Preliminary Talent and Preliminary Swimsuit awards, but ultimately landed in the all too familiar position of 4th Runner-up. (Audible gasps were heard in the auditorium.)

And the Coulda-Shoulda-Woulda
Missy Award goes to...
Nanciann Strosnider

With all due respect to the past six Miss Ohios, she will go down in the Miss Ohio record books as a woman who could have done well at Miss America, would have been a fabulous representative across the state and should have been Miss Ohio. She will surely have much future success but will be missed on the stage in Mansfield...

One of the following six lucky ladies will take over Nanciann's last crown:

The Miss Ohio 2010 MISScellanea Awards: "Stinkin' Cute" RESULTS!

One of my favorite pageant people uses the phrase "stinkin' cute" to describe the adorable and undeniably likable contestants. In this category for Miss Ohio 2010 I nominated Ashley Warholic, Courtney Monk,
Devon Stansbury, Marisa Buchheit, Sarah Hider
and Whitney Fricke.

56 votes were cast. Honorable mention goes to Whitney Fricke and Devon Stansbury.

And, by a landslide,
the winner of the "Stinkin' Cute" Missy is...

Ashley Warholic!
I think Ashley epitomizes stinkin' cute
and 67.8% of you agree!

The Miss Ohio 2010 MISScellanea Awards: Favorite Wardrobe RESULTS!

In the category of Favorite Overall Wardrobe I nominated six women who wore consistently flattering and impressive pieces at Miss Ohio: Amber Bussa, Becky Minger, Ellen Bryan, Kristy Moneysmith, Meggie Wittman and Nanciann Strosnider.

67 votes were cast; while I totally agree with your Top 3, my hands down favorite ended up in third place...

Nanciann Strosnider received 17.9% of the vote.
I thought her flowy white gown epitomized Miss America, her Art Deco inspired talent dress had an undeniable wow factor and the color of her swimsuit was perfection!

Miss Ohio, Becky Minger, won the Missy for Favorite Evening Gown, but her overall wardrobe came in a close second with 23.8%.

And the Missy for Favorite Wardrobe goes to...

Amber Bussa!
A quarter of the votes put Amber Bussa's sexy black competition wardrobe in first place! She was a Top 10 Semifinalist who manages to look trendy and sexy, yet classy all the time!

The Miss Ohio 2010 MISScellanea Awards: "Nixt Out" RESULTS

And you thought the Academy Awards were long!

The MISScellanea Awards for Miss Ohio 2010 continue with what I imagine is the most anticipated category! "Nixt Out" refers to the women you thought were next in the scoring, the beauties who just barely missed the cut, the supposed 11th and 6th places...

All the contestants at Miss Ohio 2010 had their strengths, but only ten could advance. The nonsemifinalists were Alyssa Waldman, Anna Reis, Ashley Warholic, Cayla Hellwarth, Courtney Monk, Devon Stansbury, Elizabeth Wong, Heather Waterman, Heather Wells, Hiedi Negron, Jacquelyn Nichols, Katie Bowen, Kristy Moneysmith, Rebeka Zoz, Sarah Hider and Stephanie Beltz.

There were 67 votes; 16.4% went to Ashley Warholic, putting this second-year contestant in third place.

Second place and 19.4% goes to Kristy Moneysmith,
a pageant veterin.

And the Missy for 11th place goes to...

Heather Wells!

Heather was competing at Miss Ohio for her third time, having made the Top 10 last year. 32.8% of you believe she was probably next in line to make the cut again. Speaking of, here are the ladies who did...

The semifinalist were Amber Bussa, Katie Camp, Meggie Wittman, Tera Coleman and Whitney Fricke. Nearly half of the sixty votes were cast in favor of one woman.

And the Missy for 6th place goes to...

Katie Camp!

Katie also won a preliminary Talent award during this, her third year of state competition. Sadly, she has "aged out" and will certainly be missed! Last year she was a Swimsuit winner; I think she should try Miss Ohio USA!

This is a sensitive topic and I think it warrants the reminder that The Missys are unofficial and just for fun! Please CLICK HERE for the complete disclaimer.

The Miss Ohio 2010 MISScellanea Awards: Most Promising 1st Year Contestant RESULT!

I thought it was a no-brainer to ask you, the fans, which first time Miss Ohio contestant you found most promsing. There were ten of them: Alyssa Waldman, Anna Reis, Cayla Hellwarth, Devon Stansbury, Elizabeth Wong, Heidi Negron, Meggie Wittman, Sarah Hider, Stephanie Beltz and Tera Coleman. I guess most of you agreed with the judges, and I shouldn't be surprised that the top vote getters were the first-timers who were in the Top 10, won awards or had known experience...

With 11.43% of the 70 votes, honorable mention goes to former Ohio Outstanding Teen, Sarah Hider.

In third place with 12.86% is Stephanie Beltz, winner of $1,750 in awards.

Second place goes to Top 10 finisher, Tera Coleman with an even 20%.

And the Missy for Most Promising 1st Year Contestant goes to...

Meggie Wittman!
Meggie received a strong 30% of your votes! She was one of only two new contestants to make the Top 10 and I agree that she had the poise and polish of an experienced contestant.

Kudos to all the first year competitors at Miss Ohio 2010; whether you choose to come back or not, I hope your experience in Mansfield was valuable.

The Return of the Miss Ohio 2010 Missy Awards: Most Improved RESULTS!

I'm sure it seemed like I'd forgotten about the MISScellanea Awards; I apologize. I guess I like to keep each new post at the top of the page for about a day and didn't want the Missys to get lost among the time-sensitive Miss Universe and Outstanding Teen posts. Maybe I should trust your ability to scroll down. ;)
I digress... THEY'RE BACK!!!

In the area of Most Improved I nominated Rebeka Zoz for the confidence and ease she brought to the stage her second year; Katie Bowen for the lovely new look everyone raved about; Whitney Fricke for improving herself into the Top 10 without loosing her freshness and Shannon O'Neill for a smashing new figure and lovely styling.

66 votes were cast and over half of you agreed!

The Most Improved Missy Award goes to...

Shannon O'Neill
Shannon lost 15 pounds (I believe) and ended up 1st Runner-up her third year of competition! She is currently in Hoopston, Illinois representing Ohio in the National Sweetheart Pageant. Good luck Shannon!

The Miss Ohio 2010 MISSY Awards: Most Entertaining RESULTS!

I nominated the following women who performed upbeat, flirty and fun talents for the Most Entertaining award: Amber Bussa, Anna Reis, Courtney Monk, Heather Wells, Katie Bowen and Katie Camp. I want to apologize for an oversight I made; after the poll had already been up for several days, I realized Sarah Hider should have also been nominated in this category.

65 of you voted and honorable mention goes to Courtney Monk with 13.8%. The top 3 were neck-and-neck, but one woman eventually pulled ahead...

Third place and 20% is Katie Camp, whose energetic tap was also awarded with a Preliminary Talent Award.

Second place goes to another sassy dancer, Heather Wells, who won a Non-semifinalist Talent Award. She had 21.5% of the vote.

And the Missy for Most Entertaining Talent goes to...

Amber Bussa!

30.7% of you thought her rendition of "Roxie" was the most entertaining. As someone who previously sang a song from the show Chicago, I questioned how she would make it work, but work-it she most certainly did!

She also gets the Stuck-in-my-Head Missy! I have been humming "Roxie" since I left Mansfield, which is a great trait when assessing likability and entertainment value!

The Miss Ohio 2010 MISSY Awards: Favorite Awarded Talent RESULTS!

The judges awarded Alyssa Waldman, Cayla Hellwarth, Heather Wells, Katie Camp, Marisa Buchheit and Nanciann Strosnider for their outstanding talent presentations. I asked which of them was your favorite?

68 votes were cast and honorable mention goes to Katie Camp with 11.7%.

Third place and 14.7% is Nanciann Strosnider with her Preliminary Talent Award winning Broadway vocal.

Second place goes to Non-semifinalist Talent Award winner, dancer Heather Wells, with 23.5%.

And the Missy for Favorite of the Awarded Talents goes to...

Marisa Buchheit!
36.7% of the voters agreed with the Miss Ohio judges, who gave Marisa a Preliminary Talent Award as well as the Grand Talent award, meaning she was the highest scored of all the contestants in talent! She performed a beautiful rendition of the popular aria, "O mio babbino caro."

The Miss Ohio 2010 MISSY Awards: Favorites to Cross-over RESULTS!

I nominated Amber Bussa, Heather Waterman, Katie Camp, Kristy Moneysmith, Stephanie Betlz, Tera Coleman and Whitney Fricke for the Crossover Awards, meaning they should give Miss Ohio USA a try!

76 votes were cast in overwhelming favor of two contestants!

Second place goes to Amber Bussa with 30%.

And the Missy for Favorite to Crossover goes to...

Kristy Moneysmith!
38% of the voters think she should take her long legs and blond locks directly to Portsmouth to strut her stuff at Miss Ohio USA!

The Miss Ohio 2010 MISScellanea Awards: Favorites Headshot RESULTS!

In the category Favorite Headshot, I nominated Amber Bussa, Becky Minger, Cayla Hellwarth, Elizabeth Wong, Heidi Negron, Katie Camp, Meggie Wittman and Whitney Fricke.

There were 71 votes and honorable mention goes to Cayla Hellwarth with 10% of them.

Tied for third place, Whitney Fricke and Amber Bussa each received 17%.

With 18.3%, second place belongs to Katie Camp.

And the Missy for Favorite Headshot goes to...

Our new Miss Ohio, Becky Minger!

25.3% of voters loved her headshot, which she said was "taken by a friend."

The Miss Ohio 2010 MISSY Awards: Favorite Evening Gown RESULTS!

There were many beautiful gowns at Miss Ohio 2010, but I nominated Amber Bussa, Ashley Warholic, Becky Minger, Heather Waterman, Jacquilyn Nichols, Katie Camp, Meggie Wittman, Nanciann Strosnider, Stephanie Betlz and Whitney Fricke as my favorites.

84 votes were cast and honorable mention goes to Nanciann Strosnider and Whitney Fricke;
each had 11.9% of the vote.

Ashley Warholic came in third with 14.3%.

Amber Bussa was second with 15.5% of the votes.

And the Missy goes to...

Our new Miss Ohio, Becky Minger!
20% of you agreed her gown was your favorite!

There were also a few talent gowns that I have to say, were stunning! The gown Nanciann sang in was to die for and Kristy's talent gown is what pushed her into my
Best Overall Wardrobe category.
I am also a huge fan of the dark teal gown Marissa sang in, which Ashley also wore as a walk-on!

The Miss Ohio 2010 MISScellanea Awards: "Nixt Out"

In competitive speech tournaments (known as forensics) the top six places are normally recognized. Sometimes, just for fun they'll announce who was "nixt out." In other words, who was seventh; I guess the phrase is a play on the fact that you were "next out" of the awards. In pageants it's no different. Everyone wonders which young lady just barely missed the next level and as a competitor, you certianly hope and assume it was you!

I can not stress enough that this is in no way meant to be disrespectful to the young women who did make the Top 10 and Top 5 at Miss Ohio 2010. Rather, I think most people would agree this is a common topic. After a pageant, who among us doesn't say "gosh, I'm surprised so-and-so didn't make the..."?

So, who do you think was next in line, just a point away, from making the cut? Not who you hoped it would be, but who was competitively next? Some of you may base your decision on awards, while others believe firmly in consistancy; here are your non-semifinalists and semifinalsit:

Alyssa Waldman & Anna Reis

Ashley Warholic & Cayla Hellwarth

Courtney Monk & Devon Stansbury

Elizabeth Wong & Heather Waterman

Heather Wells & Heidi Negron

Jacquelyn Nichols & Katie Bowen

Kristy Moneysmith & Rebekah Zoz

Sarah Hider & Stephanie Beltz

Semifinalists:

Amber Bussa

Katie Camp & Meggie Wittman

Tera Coleman & Whitney Fricke
