Miss Lake Festival is closed only to women in Mercer County; when I won this title back in 2001 I'm pretty sure I was the first woman from my hometown of Rockford / Parkway High School to take the crown, making Devon only the second! My mom and dad predicted it would be between Devon and Jena and felt they had the strongest talents, granted we know Devon and are bias. As for Jena, we don't know her but my parents think she has a strong future; her stage presence and vocals reminded them of former contestant, Leslie Ondrey. They thought all five of the Teens were very good and said the competition will be tough when they get to the Miss level.
Miss Ohio, Becky Minger was on hand as well as Ohio's Outstanding Teen, Cecili Weber. "Oh she's the cutest little thing!" my mom said of Cecili. Becky's headed back to Toledo bright and early in the morning for an appearance.
