She basically said she wouldn’t change anything; she has a perfect life because her family is amazing.
She didn’t really answer the question, but said men think the fast way to a point is a straight line, but women take the curves... Or something like that.
She spoke about her parent’s being divorced and sacrifices she made in her childhood and those her mother made… but that is was all worth it.
Her answer was great – saying when there is balance in her life- mind and soul; and it is important to balance family, job and community.
She said women have become stronger and smarter and a women can have a successful career and raise wonderful children; in our time women can be even better.
Miss Congeniality –
Kosovo – I love her! Very
I wish I were really watching live so I could read what the message board regulars said, I'll bet the board crashed due to over posting!
My favorites in gown: Kosovo, Australia, Columbia and Russia, Venezuela.
Kosovo – I’m glad she made it despite her seriousness in Swimsuit.
Kosovo – She lacks personality – disappointing. :(
Mexico
My top Swimsuit choices –
My roommate, a non-pageant person, noted the lack of blondes; she also thinks they all look the same.
Kosovo – She’s so beautiful, but what’s with that hair?
Mexico
Oh my, the absence of Miss Puerto Rico is quite surprising... Hmm, maybe she performs better when there's a little pepper spray involved!
Here are the national costumes that struck me, either because they represented the country well, told me something about the country, or I just really liked something about the women. (I am usually not a fan of national costumes that just look like Vegas showgirl-wear, thus Miss USA's absence from my list.)
Albania - Wow, she's undeniably cool and mysterious.
Kosovo - This woman is GORGEOUS!
It is (obviously) my belief that quickly and accurately distributing information is one of the most important things you can do to develop and foster an organization.
I know there's never enough time in a day, but the right volunteer should be able to develop a relationship with local news outlets and get a story highlighting all the contestants prior to the pageant and then a follow-up introducing the winner to the community.
Contestants - when I was in your shoes I got several articles published on my own by sending press releases to my hometown media, college media and news sources for whatever community I was currently residing! Either help the PR person for your local, or do your own PR. How do you expect to get appearances and sponsorship if the community doesn't know who you are?

Photo and article from WYTV.Monday night the big event was the Miss Trumbull County Fair Pageant and their were plenty of people to cheer these beautiful teens on. The pageant was open to any young lady between the ages of fourteen and eighteen in Trumbull County, and it was definitely an exciting night for those competing and their families.
Eleven contestants strutted their stuff and hoped for victory. All competing for the title and a one thousand dollar savings bond. The reigning queen of Trumbull County shares her thoughts on what it takes to be a winner.
Lindsay Humphrey, 2007 Trumbull Co. Fair Queen, explains,"You have to have a lot of self-confidence, a lot of family support and be you. There's no pride in winning something like this, unless you are yourself."
Judges also look for stage presence, poise, and evening gown among other criteria to name a winner. And as that moment nears, you can see the excitement building. In just a few moments, these lovely contestants will find out who will be crowned Ms. Trumbull County Fair.
The winner is eighteen year old Youngstown State University student Heather Wells.
"I just focused on being myself and I guess it worked and I'm really excited to be representing the Trumbull County Fair for this next year.", gushes, Heather Wells.
The new Queen of the Trumbull County Fair says if she could share anything with young teens it would be this, "Get involved, be active, you know be proactive in life, don't stand by and let it pass you by and she says always be yourself."
Note, this is not a preliminary to Miss Ohio. Since Heather competed a few weeks ago at Miss Ohio as Miss Maple City, fans are curious if this title is will prevent her from competing in upcoming prelims due to a clause in the Miss America contract, or if Heather will apply to Miss Ohio under the recent fair/homecoming/community pageant rule. I do not know the answer to either.
A handful of unflattering and foolish photos of me have recently been posted in various places on the internet. I deeply regret the negative publicity that has fallen on the Miss Washington and Miss America Organizations. The dedicated volunteers who run these programs are above reproach and I am so proud to be associated with them. People have jumped to a lot of conclusions and and a great deal of misinformation circling.
The fact is that these pictures were stolen form me. This matter has been referred to law enforcement for investigation. And I want to be very clear about this. None of these pictures were taken during my year of service as Miss Washington. Most of these pictures were taken with my own camera and in setting that I considered to be private and when I was among friends I could trust. Clearly someone has violated that trust and I am deeply hurt by such an act of betrayal. I am not proud of the way I am depicted in these photographs and in my defense I can only say that being a role model and public figure is a full time job.
Everyone needs a brief respite from the need to be in top form at all times and these photos were taken when I was at ease and not expecting to be on duty. The photographs to not represent my true essence in anyway and they depict me clowning around. I have worked hard to represent the Miss Washington and Miss America organizations in a way that would make both programs proud.
I apologize for acting in a way that allowed this situation to occur. I will be a long time in a healing process both in my own wounds and in the pain that my poor judgment has caused my family, my friends and this organization. For those, and there are many, who have offered your support I am so grateful.
For those who have been appalled by what they have seen I ask that you open your hearts to ideals of the MAO and to not let this situation cloud your perception of the great work this organization does for on behalf of young women.
I've never represented to be someone that I am not. I have never claimed to be better than anyone. I have never claimed to be above anyone, at the end of the day I am a pretty genuine person. And this is me genuinely apologizing, genuinely admitting that I am only human.
This weekend she will crown her successor, and for reasons I can only describe as malicious, someone has decided to cast a dark shadow over an otherwise great year by publicizing THIS photo album. It’s one thing to publish questionable photos after a woman is crowned because you feel strongly that she should be dethroned, but why a week before she’s done with her reign?
I’m not condoning her actions, just pointing out that many pageant fans are crazed hypocrites. Of course, because I have watched and liked her over the past year, I am more forgiving… Perhaps these were taken during her first local reign, before she understood the program and fully committed to it… I know, I know, some of you will say it doesn’t matter because she had a crown on her head and was misrepresenting the integrity of the organization.
Quite a while ago, my parents told me they were met with disbelief when they told some family members about the beautiful home my significant other and I shared in Ohio. "She lives with her boyfriend! We won't allow our kids to..." My forty-something cousin gasped. "She's 25 and he's wonderful!" My dad defended. I laughed. "I've seen a Facebook photo of their precious, underage angel with a forty of beer literally duct taped to their hand at a party. I could print it out if you'd like to share it...!" (And then I think I had to explain to my mom what a forty is.)
I'm disgusted by beer, let alone duct taping it to yourself; my point is that blaming the parents, let alone their sexuality, shows that you're socially inept.
The more I think about this... I think it's the most shocking case yet. No one really knew Amy Pulombo and her pictures were taken before she was a MAO contestant. Here in Ohio, the local titleholder dethroned for pictures of underage drinking was sort of known as a party girl. But Elyse was the most promising breath of fresh air seen on the Miss America stage in a while. She had all the beauty without any of the fussiness. The same personailty that was "inappropriately" captured in those pictures is exactly what we liked about her. I feel like I could write in circles about this issue for hours!
Perhaps there should be two Miss America pageants - one for the girls who don't drink, have sex or own cameras and then another for the rest of us. I'm sure someone just quipped, "I thought that was the difference between Miss America and Miss USA?!" Sorry, the internet is now proving that is not, and probably never was, the difference!
