* Note: At the beginning of each pageant season some locals drop out, new programs come on board and all programs must reapply to the Miss Ohio board. Miss West Central Ohio's franchise is still being processed and the eligible counties may change, but contestant applications are due July 1st, as the TV deal, host and scholarships are all in place.

  1. The application was accepted in February and 6 weeks before MWC's program, they received an email stating that they are not approved now. I understand that it has something to do with their date. They were approved, got the scholarships, tv deal, host and then all of a sudden, the board retracts their franchise and tells them they have to change their date? All I can say is that a 501c3 cannot act in this manner.

  2. Yes, it's unfortunate that all this is taking place at the last minute, when WCO has clearly been planning for months.

When it was brought to my attention that there were issues with the franchise approval, I agreed that contestants should know what they are or are not applying for, but I do hope it all gets straighted out very soon!

  3. Abby,

I remember that Karissa won Miss SEO and was able to continue to compete in other Miss Ohio preliminaries. Do you think this would be the same for WCO? Would the winner be able to compete in Miss Ohio locals during her reign?

  4. Hey, that's a great question.

At this point Miss WCO is confident their franchise will be re-approved.

Nonetheless, if I were applying I'd definitely ask them.

  5. Karissa did not when SEO she competed in it and placed. She competed after winning Scioto Valley.
