LOL! As soon as I saw this picture I knew it would get a negative reaction! I’ll try to play devil’s advocate for her-
Perhaps the girls were advised to mix up their poses and not do the typical pageant pose (as seen in the other photos) every time they stopped. The fact is that you will NEVER see a runway model do the typical pageant swimsuit stance. No, Miss America is not a runway show, but that’s a whole other debate… Bottom line is that the contestants were encouraged not to do the stiff, safe pageant walk.
At Miss Ohio USA we stopped several times and were taught several different poses, including one called “pretty feet” in which your leg position was similar to what she’s doing, but one ankle is slightly turned and your heel lifts off the ground just a tad. Perhaps that’s what she was doing, but just hadn’t turned her foot/ankle yet.
I’ll try to dig up some pictures later to show the differences… For now, it’s time to get ready for the Gala. Grazing stations, shiny new cars and lots of older ladies in cocktail dresses that they should not be wearing- oh boy!
Wow! What a tacky pose out of Miss R.I. What was she thinking?
